Did You Know That Fergie Has Her Own Wine?

Well, she does. And how did I find out this little factoid? From my sister. When I talked to her on Skype. Because I got internet. Oh yes, I did!

If you're reading this, then allow me to say: I MADE IT TO GUATEMALA!

From Staging in D.C., to my three days with a temporary family, to where I sit now in a lovely home in a very lovely city near Antigua, I can say it's been a very long, turbulance-filled and bumpy bus ride to my current situation.

Unfortunately, I really am too drained to do justice to my journey right now, but I just wanted to pop in an say: I made it! And, of course, you can expect a couple of posts from me very soon.

BTW, my host family's home is smack dab in the middle of two volcanoes. Have I hit the glorious landscape jackpot, or what?! :D

  1. I didn't know Fergie had her own wine, but I found out Drew Barrymore has her own wine when she was on the Ellen show. . .random.

  4. I stayed in Antigua WAY BACK IN THE DAY for language training before heading to Costa Rica for college. It really is such a lovely town - the whole area is beautiful actually. Hoping you get to enjoy some liquados as you begin the intensive training session. Looking forward to hearing about all your adventures! Also, I remember a hot drink made with plantains, cinnamon sticks, and some sort of government issued nutrition packet -- so yummy on chilly mornings!

    1. LOL @ "way back in the day." I totally dig that you have been to Antigua, and have in many ways faced some of the challenges and good times that have yet to come my way. I will make sure to drink some liquados and to have a grand ole time in Antigua during Semana Santa. Hopefully I'll have my camera then to take lots of photos!

    2. One of my favorite times in Antigua was market day - just hanging out with the vendors and watching locals and tourists browsing and shopping. And WAY BACK IN THE DAY was 1990 when a lot was happening there. There would be days when you would see no men or boys out the entire day because the military vans with blacked out windows were on patrol for 'new recruits' throughout the town. They would also stop the buses regularly and at times 'escort' someone off at gunpoint. The foreigners would get hassled and told to remove their shoes because it was known that many carried money there. Do be careful with transportation and take into account all the security training measures they tell you about! That aside, though, I found Guatemala to be enchanting and the people lovely. I hope you have as many wonderful adventures as I did and more. I will be reading your blog to hear them and see how you are doing!

    3. Came back to say: wow, I never knew it was like that "back in the day." I wish people spoke about it more (though I understand why they do not.)
